Painted Portraiture

This is probably where I struggled the most in my research. I had absolutely no interest in this topic. My Capstone topic emerged from my love for photography not for my inexistent love of painted portraits. I was not interested whatsoever and I found it very difficult to focus. However, I was aware of the important relation between painted portraiture and digital portraiture. In my opinion it was part of the evolution of portraits nowadays. It was an important step towards where we are today. It is also the form of portraiture that has been around the longest and that has lasted for the longest time. Painted portraiture started back centuries ago and although it is not as common anymore, since photography has made it a lot faster and easier to have an image of oneself, it still exists. However, other forms of portraiture such as a darregueotype have become obsolete, and although it is saddening to admit, film photography is on that same path.
